E.T.S.U. College of Medicine -- Building 52 Renovations
S. B. White Company was awarded the contract from the State of Tennessee Board of Regents to renovate the existing 3 story Building 52 on the VA Campus for the E. T. S. U. College of Medicine. This facility is used by the Psychiatry Department of the College of Medicine. This renovation contract centers around a complete rework of the existing HVAC system in the building. We are demolishing the existing air cooled chiller, steam heat exchanger, condensate receiver pump, heating hot water pumps, chill water pump, and all the existing pneumatically controlled four pipe fan coil units in the building. We are installing all new electronically controlled four pipe fan coil units from Airtherm with new electronic wall mounted combination thermostats and fan speed controllers from Johnson Controls. We are also installing a new dedicated outside air unit with temperature and humidity controls via heating and chill water coils and new distribution ductwork to all the existing rooms to meet new ventilation requirements. We are installing a new air cooled York Chiller and also all new Armstrong heating hot water and chill water pumps. We are using the existing steam supply to the building and installing a new heat exchanger to supply heating hot water to the units. This project is particularly challenging since the owner has to maintain occupancy throughout the entire construction process. Therefore, there will be a lot of second shift and weekend work and close coordination with the owner and building occupants throughout the process to meet the aggressive project schedule.
